Is there anyway that the AutoNumber could contact letters? For example I
want to start the AutoNumber at AMU1 - I assume since it is a number field
that it can not but I don't want to assume without asking. Thanks

Just add it in the query you use for forms or reports like this --

My Number Scheme: "AM" & [YourTable].[YourAutonumberField]
