Backing Up and Restoring an Account

I am currently running through some disaster recovery scenarios for our
Groove implementation and have some questions regarding backing up and
restoring accounts. I backed up my account on the only machine that it was
ever installed on using the Save Account as File tool. I then took the
created .grv file to the new machine I wanted to install the backed up
account to and installed Groove and proceeded to use the backed up account
..grv file to reestablish my account. When I then was prompted to enter my
account password I noticed that the option to remember my password the
account was enabled.

I have disabled this option on my EMSserver but still was able to save the
password on the backup machine with my account. How can I prevent this from
occurring and still having the option to remember the password disabled when
installing an account backed up from another machine?

The other issue that I had when I was adding the adding to the backup
machine was that I had to disable the following two options from the
EMSserver to allow the backup machine to login.

- Identities may only be used on a managed device in this domain
- Automatically manage devices at activation

Prior to attempting to install the backed up account on the backup machine I
had these two boxes checked and had no issues with logging in.

What can be done to allow these two options to remain enabled and be able to
install a backup account on another machine without getting error messages
when attempting to login such as the one below?

"Becuase of a policy setting, the following identities in the management
domain "XYZ" have been disabled:

"When you click OK, Groove will automatically log off the associated
account. For more information see your Groove administrator".

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The 2 situations are related. The "Save Password" option is a device policy
and will only work on managed devices. When you restored the backup account
to the second unmanaged device, the policy would no t be in effect therefore
allowing you to save the password.

If you wish to maintain these 2 policies, you will need to make sure that
you only restore backup accounts on managed devices. This will require the
management key to added when Groove is installed.

Also note that backup account files are good for 60 days. If you are not
doing so already, you should enable backups on the EMS server.
