Baseline % Complete Column in Gantt View

I am trying to show an expected % Complete based off the Baseline. Right
now, I am able to show % Complete, but for management, I need to show where
the baseline % Complete suggests we should be at this point.

I've searched through the discussions and can't find one that explains
exactly what to do or what formula needs to be used to accomplish this.

Any help will be appreciated.

Mike,

I tried that already. It works great for giving a view of where we are,
opposed to where we should be, however; we (and by we, I mean, my Boss....)
want to see an expected % Complete in the standard Gantt view right next to
our Actual % Complete. Any additional info is much appreciated.

Sorry, I'm mystified! The Tracking Gantt view gives that. You should be
seeing the % Actual against the Baseline. Perhaps putting in a line for the
status date (or better, show the Progress line via Tools/Tracking/Progress
lines) might make it clearer.

Mike/Trevor,

Thank you for all the input you've given. Trevor, you hit the nail on the
head. It's exactly what I was needing even though you don't agree with the
answer. Our purpose isn't one for our use. The side be side comparision of
the percentages is for the customer. This way, we can show them, percentage
wise, where we are in the project vs where we would have been if we hadn't
been delayed by them or their other contractors that are behind schedule.

The other part of this is how to accurately track delays. If today, we are
supposed to start pulling wire in a certain area, but can't due to the area
still being constucted. What is the best way to track the days we waited to
be able to start work in said area? Is a task split the proper way to
accomplish this? I tried using a split and finish variance. It worked, but
if you know of a better way, please advise.

Thanks again.

This is one of the topics that I have raised before to Microsoft as a
suggestion for enhancement on MS Project. Also I have discussed this matter
in more details at my blog with a sample project file that includes some
custom fields with the formulas needed to calculate the (Planned % Complete).

Please visit my blog and request your copy of the project sample file at:
