Bug: Disappearing Text (lag)

Another Outlook 2007 bug I'm seeing. Disappearing Ink. I'm typing and
the hard drive is spinning like mad. I need to wait a good second at
least until I see the text appear. This isn't just on one email but
happens regularly. I'm wondering whether Outlook is trying to process
something within my typing. The lag is ludicrous.

Again, I'm not a complainer but the Outlook 2007 bugs and problems I'm
seeing are absurd. I've disabled all RSS feeds (none), disabled the
add-ins I don't use, and will reduce my PST file size but that
shouldn't affect the problems and slowness I'm seeing, especially for
the above. Why is the hard drive always spinning with Outlook 2007?

It is probably building the search index. This takes several hours,
especially if you have a large PST. Bugs are programming errors. Your
problem seems to be between your chair back and the keyboard. Just calm down
and ask well thought out questions. You will then get answers that can help
you.

It's a bug until someone at Microsoft says that an essential part of
the product not working properly is actually the result of another
feature.

I installed Outlook 2007 several days ago. The indexing should be long
done. If it isn't then this is a definite problem because it's a
programming error that is taking up so much time it's interfering with
the basic use of the program. It's a serious error when everything
seems to lag so much so that I can notice a decline in productivity.

What would be helpful would be to tell me how to turn this indexing
off. If this is what it is like keeping it on (and indeed the problem)
then Outlook 2007 is worthless with it left on.

Let it finish.

Thanks Charles --

Apparently the indexing is not the only problem.

"Symptoms being reported by users include temporary freezes when
commands are executed or windows are opened, an inability of Outlook
to keep up with text as it is being typed and slowness in sending and
receiving e-mails."

These are the problems I'm having. How can one use an email client if
you can't see the words you are typing when you are typing? I'm never
sure whether or not they've registered as entered and it's beyond
irritating. Given the source I just found, it's obviously a widespread
enough problem. I just wish there were answers because I'd hate to try
to downgrade to Outlook 2003 and wonder if it's possible at this point
without serious problem.

Thanks again for your assistance.

After the first two weeks, I have absolutely no complaints about Outlook
2007. It seems to work as well as Outlook 2003. I feel that I can make that
comparison, because a couple of times each week, I am on my Windows XP
machine with Outlook 2003.

Thanks Charles. I think I solved this. Outlook 2007 has a serious
problem with psts that are of reasonably large size. I had to cut mine
down to 200MB for this problem to go away. Originally it was 500MB.
Whatever algorithm is being used for indexing or other background
process is significantly interfering with general use unfortunately.

Thanks for your assistance.
