Cached e-mail addresses

I have cases where we need to rebuild pc's and the users lose their
"automatic" e-mail address list as they type the address. Is this info
stored on the local pc, because some users lose this functionality when a new
pc is built.

Also, on the other side of the coin, there are users that want to turn this
feature off because they wind up sending e-mails to people that are no longer
at that e-mail address. How do I go about turning off this feature?

Thanks!

Your referring to auto complete or auto fill
if you wish to save the persons "auto complete"
1: Do a search for *.nk2
For Windows XP and 2000 the default location of the file is:
C:\Document and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

For Windows 98 and ME the default location of the file is:
C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

2: Rename the file to the current profile name, for example:
Old Profile name: Outlook
New Profile Name: Outlook1
Rename the n2k file to outlook1.nk2 file.
3: Close and reopen Outlook
4: Test to see if the auto complete feature is returned

If setting the old nk2 file does not work, then there is no way to recover
that
information. The customer must send an email to the person in the new
profile
before the auto-complete will begin to populate once again.

If you wish to allow the customer to start new and get rid off all the old
ones simply rename the .nk2 file and they start fresh.
if they find a bad address or typo when typing the name then use the arrows
button to select the bad addies and then delete it.

Hope this helps

"Bother," said Pooh as he struggled with the computer.

"It never does quite what I want."

"I wish Christopher Robin were here."

Yes. It's a file whose type is ".nk2" stored in the folder
%AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook.

Click Tools>Options>E-mail Options>Advanced E-mail Options and uncheck
"Suggest names while completing..."
