We have been pushing out Office 2003 with GPO for a while now, pretty
successfully, but now of a sudden a whole bunch of people who are just
getting the push out can't open Outlook. We push Outlook out to use cached
mode. We get the error described in this article: KB826488 , but going in to
the ost settings and actually confirming the path where it wants to put it,
gives you a question about that the ost doesn't exist, do you want to create
it now? If we hit Yes, then everything works fine from then on.
Not sure why this error started from nowhere? Could this maybe be fixed by
using the Admin Template for Outlook? I found this under Exchange Settings,
OST Creation. This setting is a little cryptic, because by default if you
enable it, it has a check box for "Prevent OST Creation:", but I guess if we
enable it and leave that check box empty, it will hopefully create the ost
file by it self?
Does that sound good, or is there a better solution?
TIA!
