Can't uninstall MS OneNote

Synapse Syndrome

I can't uninstall MS OneNote from my computer. It's corrupted in some way
and I can't reinstall it over itself without uninstalling it first.

But in the Add/Remove applet there is no button to do this under its entry.

How do I uninstall the damn thing. This is driving me nuts.

Or at least, get the OS to think it's noyt installed, so I can install it
again??

Let me add that OneNote is not currently corrupted as I said, but I
installed a beta of SP1 which cannot be uninstalled.

I just want a fresh copy of OneNote installed.

Have you used System Restore?

That isn't working either. It hasn't been working for a few months and this
installation is a couple of years old.

Sounds like you've got more problems with your system than just OneNote.
I'd suggest you run your anti-virus software with the latest definitions for
a thorough check of the computer overall, and then take a look at the
malware/spyware/Trojan information on MVP Jim Eshelman's web site:
www.aumha.org/secure.htm. If things aren't working as they're supposed to,
it is a problem which should be fixed.

I do that stuff regularly.

Everything is fine with my system, except System Restore, which stopped
working when I changed HDDs for some reason. This OS installation has seen
quite a lot oh major hardware changes.

I just want to know how to reinstall OneNote. Or get that button back in
Add?Remove programs.. The entry is still there but without the button, and
the icon has changed from the Office one to a standard one.

Do you also have Office 2003 installed? The OneNote install should be in
your C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11 directory. If you can
launch OneNote itself, you could do a Detect and Repair from the Help menu.
It may correct the issue so you can uninstall.

See if this helps you regain the "Remove" button:

Some applications in Add/Remove Programs list are missing Change and Remove buttons ?:
http://www.winxptutor.com/arpbuttons.htm

If not, read the UninstallString from the registry, and type that string in Start/Run:

Example:

For Adobe Acrobat Reader:
[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Adobe Acrobat 5.0]

"UninstallString" (REG_SZ) is:

G:\WINDOWS\ISUNINST.EXE -f"G:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\NT\Uninst.isu" -c"G:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\NT\Uninst.dll"

Another option is to use a third-party uninstaller program:

MyUninstaller v1.30 - Alternative to the standard Add / Remove module:
