change start date of project summary task

I created another project from a previous one, but I need to change the start
date in the project summary task, and I can't figure out how to do it. I've
changed it in different places, but on the Gantt chart, it still shows up as
the "old" start date.

Kim,
Start and finish dates of all summary lines are calculated by Project,
they are not editable by the user. However, I'm guessing what you really
want to do it to shift your new project in time. Depending on the
structure of the schedule, (i.e. whether it has constraints on task
dates), you may be able to shift the schedule by changing the Project
Start Date under Project/Project Information. If that doesn't work, use
the Adjust Dates utility found on the Analysis toolbar.

I have tried both of those, and neither changes it on the gantt chart. It
shows the right date when I look at both of those places (project/project
info, and "adjust dates", but it does not update the project. And you are
correct, I am trying to move the entire project forward to different dates.
The tasks are all linked, so it seems if I adjust the start date, it should
work, but I'm still obviously missing something.

From an old one?
Aren't Actual Start dates present?
None of the functions described will do anything to actual start or finish
dates.
Set %complee for all tasks to 0.
