Color loss when publishing as PDF

I am using Publisher 2007 SP1 on a Windows XP Pro 2002 SP3 box. I have
created a document and defined all colors as process colors (CMYK). Only
black and cyan are in use. When I go File > Publish as PDF or XPS using the
default settings for high quality printing, Publisher creates a PDF. Text
which I have colored cyan in Publisher appears in black in the PDF when
viewed in Adobe Reader 9.0. Cyan borders, fills, and images appear in cyan.
What is happening that changes cyan text in Publisher to black text in the
PDF?

Hi Charles,

This might be caused by the active printer for the document you are
converting to PDF. If possible, try going to File -> Print Setup... and
selecting a different printer prior to publishing as PDF. That may correct
the issue.

Thanks for the suggestion, Auston. I tried selecting a color postscript
printer and publishing as PDF. It made no difference. The colored text in the
Publisher document appeared in black in the PDF.

Charles,
Perhaps (hopefully) you've found a resolution to your problem by now. But if
not, I have something for you to try. Change your main default printer on
your PC to a color printer before you publish the document to a PDF. I had
the same exact problem as you, and that fixed the problem. It makes no
sense, but it works.

Charles did you ever figure this out? I am having the same problem and it
starting happening and never happened before. I have the correct color
printer selected and the setup is to print in color. It prints in color from
the .pub file just fine but when I save to .pdf it is back to black text. I
am not using it to print from but want the colored text so that my web links
show up when we email out our newsletter to my club. The links work but are
not in the blue color I have chosen.
