Color tracking edits by separate editors

For a document that is created by "A", and red-lined by "B" (using trac
changes), if "C" and "D" both wish to mark up the red-line document, ho
can their edits be saved in the red-line copy with distinct colors fo
each editor so as to identify whose edits are whose?

For example, if the red-line edits are red, can "C"'s edits be colore
in blue & "D"'s in green? The coloring only seems to exist while bein
edited, then once the document is saved, all edits revert to red
destroying the ability to distinguish edits

That's never happened to me; have you looked through all the "Track Changes" options, being sure that every possible one is set to "By Author"?

(Word distinguishes the various contributors by computer, so if several people are doing it on the same terminal, they need to have signed in as the new User; or else set the Username in the appropriate spot under the Office menu.)

As Peter wrote, if you select "By author" Word ensures that each editor gets
a different color. However, you can't assign *specific* colors to specific
editors.
