Computer reboots

HoeHelp,
I've a HP Pavilion 7975, 2 GHz, 512 MB, 80 MB hard drive. Win XP Home Ed.
ver 2002, sp2.
When using Skype/MSN/Yahoo after about 10 minutes and /or when playing
certain on-line games Pogo/Yahoo, my computer locks up and tries to reboot. I
get a screen with several options: "safe - safe with networking - last known
good config - windows normal" I have to restart in safe mode then power down
and reboot. This is driving me nuts, a solution would be really be
appreciated.

did you run a virus scan and spyware scan with several different applications?
Has this always been like this or now all of a sudden?

Thank you, yes I did run a virus scan and also a spyware (can't run a full
scan without pc rebooting). This is a relatively new problem, couple of
months.
