Copy/paste loses formatting in Word 2007

When I copy text from other documents and paste into a Word 2007
document I am unable to retain the source document formatting. When I
click the drop down for Paste and choose Paste Special, the only
options I see are "Unformatted text" and "Unformatted unicode text".
I do not have any options for rich text formatting. I have compared
with co-workers who do not have this problem and this seems to be the
difference (or one difference at least). I had this same issue with
my Word 2003 installation before I upgraded to 2007. Can anyone tell
me how to get rich text paste options?
