Corrupt pst File

S

Somchai

I have to import a pst file to a newly formatted PC. If I import the pst file
the import process freezes all the time and then Outlook can't even open
anymore. I have created a new profile and the same thing happend again and
again.
When I try to repair the file (scanpst) it finds error and when I backup and
repair the file, even scanpst freezes. The only thing I could do was to copy
the old file into the location of Outlook, at least my customer can work.
However, this is not a solution as in general the file is still corrupt.
Does anyone know of ways how to repair this file?
Thanks in advance

Do *not* use 'Import' for a PST file! This will lead to all kinds of
problems, as pointed out in the newsgroup several times a day.

Copy the PST file to any location on the new PC (but do not replace the
default PST file), make sure that the read-only attribute is not set,
then *open* it with Outlook (File | Open | Outlook data file).

If the PST file is indeed corrupt, it may have occurred during the
transfer, e.g. on a weak transfer media such as DVD. Just copy the
original file again, best by compressing it into a ZIP file, so
preserving all attributes and consistency.

Hi, guy!

You can try a popular Outlook recovery tool called Advanced Outlook Repair to repair your PST file. It is a powerful tool to recover messages, folders and other objects from corrupt or damaged Microsoft Outlook PST files.

Detailed information about Advanced Outlook Repair can be found at http://www.datanumen.com/aor/

And you can also download a free demo version at http://www.datanumen.com/aor/aor.exe
