Critical path

I have been using Project for several years, but have
never needed to identify a critical path or critical
issues within a schedule. How does Project identify the
critical path. is it there and I just don't see it? I
have searched the knowledge base and there is no
recognition of critical path in the data base. What am I
missing?

You can display the critical path by going to the "tracking gantt" view or
by using the gantt bar wizard.
Project identifies it as the chain of events that have 0 total slack. You
can also change the "definition' of critical and calculate "multiple"
critical paths, but first get comfortable with the basics.

"Critical" does not mean important or crucial. It is a specific
technical use of the term to mean "a delay in a critical task will
result in a delay in the project completion."
