critical path

OK, so where is the setting in Project 2003 that causes my
system to show the critical path starting later (dropping
earlier tasks) than what my colleague sees when viewing
the exact same project schedule on his system???

There is no such specific setting. Can you give more details about what is
happening?

Hi Steve

could it be the calculate multiple critical paths ... is this a project file
specific setting or machine setting?

Steve, Thank You for responding. This is really strange;
when I email the project to my manager (who is located in
another state), he tells me that the critical path
displayed on his system is missing the first dozen or so
tasks that I'm seeing. His critical path starts with a
task that finishes in 2005 while mine contains tasks for
CY2004. Any thoughts on how this could happen?>-----

Does that task where his critical path begins have a constraint applied to
it? As Julie asked, is the "show multiple critical paths" option turned on?
Could his installation be set to show dates as fiscal years (FY starting
other than Jan) and yours is regular calendar years, thinking you both could
be seeing the path actually start at the same tasak but a date display
difference makes them appear to be different tasks?

Sorry for the delay in responding; I've been on travel and
wasn't able to access the web site. Both of you have
provided info for consideration; Thank You. I'll have to
follow up with a little research. Since this may take
some time,l'll consider this issue closed, reserving the
right to reopen it as needed, OK.
