Detect & Repair - won't

Configuration:
OL2003 Pro, SP2, Windows XP - SP2,
Ran Detect & Repair and get a message that "Installation source not
available. Verify source is available and that I can access it." When I
click OK, nothing happens. I have the original CD, have inserted it, tried
D&R, tried exiting and reentering OL but can't seem to get past this point.

I suspect that the install wizard is looking for one of the INF files in
C:\Windows\INF that are part of one of the updates you've added and that it
can't find that file.

Any idea what I should do?

Uninstall and then reinstall should fix it. Make sure you reapply SP2 and
additional updates.

I have the identical problem - trouble is I cannot unintall/reinstall Office
2003 as I get the same error message "Installation source for this product is
not available. Verify source is available..." etc.
Outlook opens OK and I can see all of the emails and folders too, but if I
try to do anything (just about) from the menu system I also get a " The
Operation Failed" dialogue.

If I try to acces the email account(s) I get "The operation failed due to a
registry or installation problem. Restart Outlook and Try again. If
theproblem persists, please reinstall."

Basically I'm stuffed :-(
