Diminishing Resources Allocation

Is there any way to show a resource reduce their time allocated to a task
over time?

In other words, you have a 4 week task. The resource is allocated 100% on
week 1, 75% on week 2, %50 on week 3, 25% on week 4.

The only way I can see to do this is to define 4 tasks and allocate the
resources accordingly.

Is there another way?

You can apply a work contour. View/Task Usage
Double click on an individual resource and then select "Work Contour"

If you select custom, you can always hard key the values on the right side
of the screen to timephase any way you wish.

2 Ways:

1) Go to Resource Usage View, select the task under the resource, double
click, and change the Work Contour for the assignment.

2) Go to the Resource Usage View, zoom in/out until you have the unit of
time correct on the right chart (i.e. weeks or days). Simply type in the
desired work amount there.

Jim,

Thanks. This is exactly what I needed.

Hi
Not sure if anyone is still reading this old thread but it's right on topic
for me so here goes...
I am manually scheduling resources and tried the "Work contour" drop-down as
described but I only get the following list of pre-configured profiles:
Flat; Back loaded; Front loaded; Double peak; Early peak; Late peak; Bell;
Turtle.
How do I get Custom please?
My version is 2003 Standard with SP2.

Thanks in anticipation

Hi Bobscott,

I don't believe there is a "custom" choice in the Work Contour
drop-down. If you manually edit a assignment work in the timescaled
portion of either the Task Usage view or the Resource Usage view, the
Work Contour will read "contoured" to indicated that it has manually
been changed.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
