I did not want TRIAL version of MS OFFICE that came with computer. Deleted
files and discarded INSTALL CD. Now whenver I try to use WINDOWS SEARCH a
prompt comes up instructing to INSTALL MS OFFICE TRIAL VERSION from CD.
After closing prompt the computer freezes. Can this problem be fixed in the
registry? Do not wish to purchase TRIAL VERSION CD for a reinstall. What
can I do?

With Windows OS, you should never delete files to remove an application.
You should always use Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs to remove
Programs that you don't want. Some programs also come with uninstall exe.

Suggest you use the Control Panel / Add or Remove Program and see if you can
remove the trial version of Microsoft Office.

If this doesn't help, suggest you re-post your question (with additional
note about using Control Panel / Add or Remove Program) in one of the
relevant Office newsgroups since the newsgroup you posted to is for
Microsoft Access, a database application.

Van,

Sorry for not explaining fully but I did Use Control Panel Remove programs.
Thought that would take of it. Than the Search problem arose where it tells
me to reinstall MS OFFICE TRIAL VERSION CD which of course I no longer have
and cannot see purchasing. I think old Bill found a failsafew way to embed
his OFFICE TRIAL where it cannot be deleted by the casual user. Wonder if a
registry fix would eliminate the Search freeze problem.

I wouldn't recommend editing the Registry as there may be hundreds of
entries and the chance of finidng the correct registry entries to delete is
virually nil..

Suggest you post to one of the relevant Office newsgroups.
