duplex printing

My Canon Pixma ip 6000D printer has the option of printing on both sides.
After one prints it sucks it back in and prints on the other.

I want to make a book of picture (with spiral binding on the side) for a
bedridden person and feel having it set up landscape would be best. I'm also
using regular pages set at landscape to make a good size (cardstock)

I have it set up this way in Publisher, but when I print it, it comes out
fine aligned on the pages, but the 2nd picture on the back is upside down.
This would be the next "page" of the book and should be going the same way.

I can set up every other page in Publisher upside down, but there might be
an easier way?

When I set it as portrait (the binding would still be on the left side) it
comes out fine. Also, if I wanted to print it the way it's doing it now and
put the binding across the top (like a calendar, flipping up) the pictures
would be aligned okay.

It gets confusing because there are so many place to set it (either
landscape or portrait) and I have that right. Just need every other picture
to be printed upside down (LOL) (or print every other page and put the
paper back in and print the other sides) Seems like there must be settings
for this somewhere, where Publisher (and printers) can be used for booklets
that are bound on the left side and open like a book.

I guess what I need is a book/booklet setup with the binding down the left
side, but landscape and not portrait.

I will have to practice with greyscale or make test sheets till I hit on
the right combination. Maybe setting it up as a booklet to start, then
making the pages bigger?

I'm confused.

Thanks,
Carrie

Okay, I got it to work the way I want. I don't know how, but I'm going to
save this setup and use it as a template if I want to do something like this
again.

Getting the printer and Publisher settings in synch is what gets
confusing.

Somewhere in your duplex settings in your printer driver you'll have a
"binding" option. Long-edge vs. short-edge, booklet vs. tablet, or "flip
pages up" are all terms I've seen used to describe the effect you're
looking for.

I've seen something like that (not the flip pages up but it might be
there) just haven't attempted to do much with it. When I made the picture
book last night I did set the binding to left short side (since it's
landscape alignment that seemed to discribe it). I think what's confusing is
all the settings, the publisher ones to start, then the printer ones. I
remember my first printer (a Canon BJC-250) came free with my first PC,
lasted 7 years and whatever I set it up for (in the computer) was what it
printed. It didn't have a mind of it's own (LOL)

What I should do, and maybe will tonight, is go over the printer and set
some of these and see what they do. But, I also have to set up what I'm
printing from, too. Seems like the combinations are endless and I'd have to
write down exactly what I had Publisher and the printer set on to get the
desired results. But that's one way of learning.
