I am in leveling gantt view and it says e day.  what does the e stand for?

I don't know officially what it stands for (evening and day?) but it
made my resources available 24 hours a day on the tasks that had the e
in front of my durations.

Hi Té,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

The e stands for elapsed. Elapsed times ignore the working calendar times
and thus include nights and week ends.
