Easy way to print selected columns

M

MOE Ken

It appears that the only way to print selected columns in a Gantt chart is to
hide unwanted columns, but then you must go through a tedious process to
return them if you want to work with them all on-screen (as opposed to
selecting each Task and changing the data within Task Information). Is there
not an easier way to print selected columns without hiding columns?

Hi Ken,

Yes - create a new table. View/Table: entry/More Tables /Copy and give it a
new name, and Cut Row for the columns you don't want.OK. Now delete the
columns you don't want. Now, whenever you're ready to print, View your new
table first ( you could create a tool button for this if it's something you
do often).

Hi,Glen:
I hope you're still around. Where do you "view the table" to print?

JoepL,
Yes Mike is still around, but this is probably his off-line time so I'll
step in.

In Project a view is made up of several components. One is the screen
type. The second is the view table. In addition sorting, grouping and/or
filtering may be applied to organize or limit the way task rows are
displayed.

What Mike basically said was to create a new custom view table that
contains only those fields that you wish to display. Those fields are
displayed as columns and that makes up the "view table".

Let's say you normally use the Gantt Chart view. The default table for
the Gantt Chart view is the Entry table. However, you can apply any view
table to the Gantt Chart view. To change the view table, go to
View/Table/More Tables and select your customized table. Hit "Apply" and
you are ready to print.

Hope this helps.

Hello Ken,

It's likely Mike Glen is off line currently. To answer your question,
I believe Mike was talking about applying the newly created table to
the existing view. Choose View > Tables > More tables and select the
custom table you created according to Mike's direction. You can also
change tables by clicking your secondary (right-most) mouse button
over the select all area in the upper left corner of the table (above
the row numbers to the left of the indicator column.)

Then, print the view with the custom table applied.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Custom Table View / Print

I used all the directions recommended, but each time I create my custom view, it causes the app to crash. It's happened 9 times in a row.

?
Thanks,
Stephanie
