I get this message when I email out from microsoft outlook

Relaying denied. Proper authentication required.

So, do like the error says and properly authenticate. It's a setting on the
Outgoing Server tab of your account properties pages.

I used to get the same message when I first switched to DSL. I was using DSL
to get online but sending email using my old email from my dial up provider.
I eventually called the two providers to get assistance with the
authentication settings. Now it works great!
