I have begun experiencing this error on sending mail (incomin gis fine).
I have read many of the artices and tried all the solutions I can find,
without success.
Operating System - XP 5.1 build 2600
Outlook 2003 SP1
Norton Internet Security 2005
I have XP firewall disabled.
My ISP has checked settings and I can send and recive from webmail.
I have tried disabling Norton Firewall and email virus scanning.
I have latest Norton Updates.
I have even created a new mail account through my server Cpanel to no avail.

I'm now at a loss a seek further advice on this problem

Thanks

I too have had this problem. first question are you trying to access an
email acount that is not from your ISP?
The problem is that your ISP has filtered port 25 to cut down on spammers.
you can either contact your ISP and have them unfilter (block) port 25 or
you can try using your ISP's outgoing mail server as the mail server for the
account you are having problems with.
i know someone out there is going to say "There is no way the ISP is going
to block port 25 because that is the universal outgoing mail port!". i was
just in contact with my ISP (SBC) and they confirmed that they ARE filtering
port 25.

Thanks walknbullseye. I contacted my ISP again (Telstra BigPond in Australia)
and whilst they wouldn't admit to blocking port 25, they did tell me that
they had recently made some security updates (good of them to tell their
customers !!) and by changing from my outgoing mail server to theirs I'm up
and running again.

Martin,
I've encountered the same problem with Outlook 2007. I changed my outgong
mail to the Bigpond server and can send a test account email ok. However,
when I send a 'normal' email I still get the same error.
Is there anything else tht you did to the account settings to resolve this
problem?
