Error message #REF! with Vlookup function

On my spreadsheet I use the function of Vlookup for finding values on
reference of Column 1 for over 12 months. What if the function returns #REF!
actually means? How can I fix it? It seems that all the other columns
return the right values but this column returns with the #REF! message
