Excel going haywire!

My excel program is going nuts! I can't remove a highlighted box so I closed
it and went to open it and its asking for a password but wont let me put
numbers in only letters, and the pages are flashing from one to the other.
HELP

Have you tried disabling macro's an opening it? you can open a blan
workbook and set the macro security to medium or high or hold down th
shift key whilst opening the offending workbook, it could be that it i
trying to open another linked workbook which may be trying to open th
source book when opened (i know who in their right mind would d
that?)...give it a go anyway

I know this is silly, but did you check your keyboard to make sure you have
the NumLock set. Some times inadvertedly we touch that key, and go crazy
trying to figure out why is not taking numbers.
