file name in footer for all users ??

I am constantly being asked by staff to find their documents. Im
provided little help on this eg where is it and what is the title. We
have several servers when people can store documents.

Is there a way of automatically or even asking people when they open a
new document if they want the file name automatically added to the
bottom of it.

We use word97.
