The file is 2,055,628 KB and Microsoft word will only let me open a 32MG
file maximum.

Could be a limitation of the file system you use (FAT16, HPFS...), rather
than of Word?

No, it is a real limit to Word 2002. Although the 32 Mb limit is for text
only. From Microsoft:

The maximum file size is limited to 32 MB for the total document text only
and does not include graphics, regardless of how the graphics image is
inserted (Link to file, Save with document, or Wrapping style) into the
document. Therefore, if the file contains graphics, the maximum file size can
be larger than 32 MB.

However, 32Mb of text...is a LOT of text!
