Files won't open

My project files will not open all of the sudden. The Project Icon appears on the screen for a couple seconds then there is a click and the icon drops to the tool bar. The file stays blank on the tool bar and will on enlarge to the screen. I've tried opening specific files as well as the program itself. Any ideas?
