Formatting between Master and Subproject

Hi guys,

I wonder if somebody can help me with a seemingly simple query that
can't for the life of me figure out...

Once you have inserted a subproject into a master project (using th
Insert - Project option from the menu), how can you ensure that an
formatting you apply to the details in the subproject from within th
master project are maintained when you open the subproject separately?

In this case, I'm trying to change the font COLOUR for some of th
tasks from within the master project, yet when I open the subprojec
none of the font colour changes are appearing.

Pls help...!

Thanks in advance,

Cheers,
Mat

The formatting belongs to the View. I recommend creating new Views using
View, More Views to get exactly what you want. A new table (View, Tables,
more Tables) to specify which columns you want to see makes a complete
package. Use Tools, Organizer to copy the new View and table to the
Global.Mpt file and all projects you open can see and use the View/table.

Hi Rod,

Thanks for your help on this so far - Champion!

I've done as you suggested and created myself a new view and a ne
table (New view based on Gantt Chart, and new table copied from Entr
table). I can then see my new view on my menu on the left, and ca
select it and any changes I make to the format (eg. Font color, bold
etc) does not show in the Gantt chart view, so the new view appears t
work fine and independently. I then used the Organizer to copy my ne
view and table to the Global.Mpt file, and when I opened the Subprojec
individually, I can select my new view and everything appears but ye
for some reason the formatting applied from within my Master projec
won't be carried through to the Subproject... I must still be missin
that final link of info, is there any further help you could provide?

Thanks a lot,

Cheers,
Mat

Once a subproject applies a View, it is cached locally for future use. Any
changes to the master View are again only changed locally in the master. To
update the Global file you need to copy to Global again, then in the
sub-project delete the local copy of the view (again with Organizer) then
when you re-apply the View the latest version from the Global file is copied
which should then show changes.

Great, thanks Rod. I'm still experimenting with this, having some
teeting problems but I'm pretty sure it's now down to the environment
I'm running things in (ie. Locations of the two projects, location of
the Global file, etc etc)... This will give me what I was after, thanks
a lot for your help...

Cheers,
Matt
