FS predecessor not affecting start date

Aren Cambre

I am using MS Project 2003.

I have a project with 4 tasks with no constraints. They are all "As
Soon As Possible" tasks. They all last 1 day, and the resource
assigned to them is assigned at 25% units. All of these tasks are 0%
complete.

All four of these tasks have begin and end dates on 6/16/03, the start
of my project. This should not be happening: task 1's FS predecessor's
finish date is 12/19/03, task 2's FS predecessor is task 1, task 3's
FS predecessor is task 2, and task 4's FS predecessor is task 3.

Tools-->Options-->Calculation-->Calculation mode is Automatic.

I am totally confounded. Everything I read says this should be
working.

Hi Aren,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Try showing the times via Tools/Options.../View tab and select a Date format
that includes times.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: <http://www.mvps.org/project/>

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on:)

The "start date" for tasks 1-4 is Mon 6/16/03 8:00 AM, and the start
and finish dates for the predecessor are Fri 12/5/03 9:00 AM and Fri
12/19/03 5:30 PM, respectively.

Clearly the "start date" for tasks 1-4 is not right.

Whoa - you're saying there are just 4 tasks then you refer to the
predecessor for task 1. Can you list all tasks in sequence showing the
start and finish date of each, plus the predecessor info, just like
you'd see it in the Gantt chart list? Can't make heads or tails out of
the description you've given.

Steve,

Disregard this thread. It turns out that I had marked these tasks as
complete, and that prevented them from being moved. I put their
completions back to 0% and it's fine. I am not sure why I did not see
this when I originally posted.

Thanks for your help.
