Greyed Out buttons - conflict with OE ??

Box666

I installed Outlook (2003) last week and every thing worked fine. I
have sent and received emails with no problems. Today I can still
receive emails ok,but i cannot send new / reply / forward - as these
buttons are now greyed out ?

Since the original installation of Outlook (which worked) I have also
installed Outlook Express to read the News groups, but was careful not
to set it to my main email account, in case this caused an issue I have
now uninstalled OE, but still the Outlook buttons are greyed out.
(indeed the Tools\Options and Customise are also greyed out.)

Has anybody else come across this, if so how did you solve it. (if I do
a test from Tools\email accounts .. that sends and receives the test
ok)Indeed when Outlook first opens the greyed out buttons appear
normally for a second or so before they go grey.

If I have to uninstall Outlook and then reinstall and as I still want
to use OE for reading the groups, is there a set order in which to
install these 2 items in order to avoid conflict .. if indeed that is
what I have.

If you uninstall Outlook Express, Outlook will not function properly.
Re-install Outlook Express and then, if necessary, re-install Outlook.

I also have the same problem however I don't understand SgtRich's reply?! I
havn't ever uninstalled OE, so I don't understand why I would still have the
same problem.
