HELP? How to Recover Lost File from Project Server/Offline limbo?

A

AVines

Here is my issue:

I checked out a copy of a project plan from the server to work offline
I unplugged the lan and took it to a meeting so I could update it as we went
along the agenda
I had a substantial amount of updates and tried to save locally to re-upload
to the server later.
MS Project freaked and said it need to either debug or send report - thus
shutting down and sending my copy of the plan into nowhere-land
I took out my battery and started again in hopes it would have some sort of
recovery (like excel) - but to no avail

After much searching I found what I think might be my version of the plan in
a folder on my computer in this path D: Documents & Settings/
anne.m.vineski/Application/D/Data/Microsoft/MS
Project/{DD06956B-D8DF-407A-AEAF-0922B8329778}

the file in there that I suspect is the one I need is a .mpp but I cannot
open it. It simply says "Project cannot open the file, check file name and
path are correct etc. ...If your file is from an earlier version, open it in
that version, click Save As (File menu) and save in MPX format. Open the MPX
file in the current version of Project. When you use this method, project
data is imported, but formatting is lost."

I tried to save as an MPX format and then open - but could not do that
successfully either.. or maybe I was doing it wrong.

Have you ever had anything like this happen? Can you offer some advice on
how to find that lost file I was updating?

greatly appreciate any ideas you may have. Please email back at
