Help with protection of sections of Doc with embedded excel-unprot

N

Neil Baltus

Here is my issue.
Using MS Word & Excel 2000 (9.0.6926 SP-3)

ISSUE: Unable to open up embedded Excel worksheet in an "unprotected"
section of a protected Word document.

WHAT I HAVE DONE:
I am setting up a document in Word to be used as a template. I have created
various section breaks (continuous) within the document. A few of the
sections contain form fields.

I have copied and pasted (Paste Special as a MS Excel Worksheet Object) a
very simple Excel spreadsheet into it's own section of the Word document. I
verified within the format section of the Excel sheet that the protection -
"lock" box was not selected.

I then protected the Word document, selecting the appropriate sections -
leaving the section with the Excel sheet "unprotected".

RESULT: Unable to open (double click) the Excel worksheet, even though the
section is not protected. When I unprotect the entire document, I am able to
open the Excel worksheet.

Any help to resolve this issue will be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you!!

Hi =?Utf-8?B?TmVpbCBCYWx0dXM=?=,

Make sure you format the Excel object graphically as "in line with text" (no
text wrapping). The entire graphics layer of a protected document is locked,
even in unprotected sections. A graphic (Word considers embedded objects to be
graphics) must be in-line with the text in order for it to be accessible.
