hide plus sign of the expand list feature in the distribution list

H

Haydar

Hi,

With Office 2003, it is now possible to edit a distribution list before
sending an
email.
When I address an email to a distribution list, a plus symbol (+) appears at
the left of the list name. Click the plus symbol (+) to expand the list to
include all the names included in the list. Once the list has been expanded,
it cannot be collapsed.
My request is when an email will be addressed to a distribution list, only
the name of the distribution list appeared on the “To:†line of the email.
This did not allow people to change the members of the list from an
individual email.
How can I disable this feature in Exchange or Outlook and hide the plus
symblo + ?

Thanks

Haydar

Because the name of the list is replaced with the members of the list.

How does not allowing the member names to appear in the To field provide you
with the ability to edit the list of names? If they don't appear, obviously
you can't change them.

You cannot. If you were able to, then you could not edit the To field in
order to remove addresses from the list.

You can use a group policy setting from the Outlk11.adm file to manage this registry value:

KEYNAME HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Options\Mail
VALUENAME DisableDLExpansion
VALUEON NUMERIC 1
VALUEOFF NUMERIC 0

I want to disable the plus symbol and I want to display only the distribution
list name without expanding the list and without displaying the list content.

Thanks for your answer.
But if our machines are not in the domain and there is no domain controller
to deply this Outlk11.adm file.
Because I didn't find KEYNAME
HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Options\Mail in the
Regedit.

Standard procedure: If the key doesn't exist, create it. If you don't want a policy, create it in HKCU\Software, not HKCU\Software\Policies.

Can you confirm me if it seems sound right?
I create under HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Options\Mail
a Dword key named DisableDLExpansion and the value data is 1.

Thanks

That looks OK, but you're the one in a position to test it, right?

I created under HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Options\Mail
a Dword key named DisableDLExpansion and I tried the value data 1 and 0 and
it doesn't work.
Have you any other soluton?

Thanks

Hmm. Now that I've read over some other information I have here, it looks like that option is being added to Outlook 2007 but is not available in earlier versions. Sorry to lead you astray. You'll just have to wait, I'm afraid.

Can't be done.
