highlighting 'late' tasks

The nugget

Hi

I've worked my way through 2 manuals, but I still can not work out how to
simply run a report against a gant chart that shows tasks which should have
finished by a date in the past and have not been completed or are due to
finish by a date in the future and are not complete- I want to do aweekly
report which shows, incomplete tasks for that week and those that are due for
completiogn that wee. The report would be run for example on a Modnay
mornign would show things that are outstanding for the previosu week (and
further if needed) and show tasks that are due to be completed this week.
At present I do this maually.

Thanks in advance

Hi Nugget,
You do not say which version of microsoft project you are using.

MSP 2003 contains reports that show 'tasks that should have started' and
'Slipping Tasks' in the standard reports ( View>Reprots>Custom). Maybe these
are of use to you?

hope this helps

Did you ever find out how to do this? I'm trying to do the same thing with
Project 2007.

You could create a filter for this if a suitable one doesn't already exist.

The criteria you want are something like:
- [Finish] < "selected date"
- and [% Work Complete] < 100

So go to Project/Filtered For/More Filters. Create a new filter by
clicking New and give it a title of your choice:
The first line has:
- Finish in the Field Name
- is less than in the Test column
- "Select date:"? in the Value column

Similarly, the second line will set up a test for [% Work Complete"
being less than 100. Make sure that you set the And/Or column to And
for the second line.

You could apply this filter to the Task Sheet, Gantt or Task Usage views
depending on what exactly you want to see.

Hello David,

Try Project > Filtered For, More Filters. Select the "Slipped/Late
Progress" filter, click the Highlight button.

That will change the font of tasks which are late (Finish is later
than Baseline Finish or BCWS > BCWP). In order for the filter to be
successful, you must have a baseline saved and an accurate Status
date or current date.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
