That is your choice. If you open Hot Sync and select applications then highlite what you want to configure.

Under configuration you will see the options you are looking to setup.

Hope this helps

Francine,
Thanks, however my outlook does not have a "hot sync" selection in either
the menu across the top or the tool bars. I am new to Outlook and an having a
hard time making the change. But it is essential I can go back and forth with
my appointments, contacts, to my phone.

Of course not. "hotsync" is the program you use to sync your phone.

sExcuse my ignorance, Brian. I have been a happy Palm user for 5 years. I
now have an iphone which is supposed to hot sync with OUtlook. Initially it
tranferred my contacts and calendar. However now when I update the Outlook on
my laptop and hotsync, Outlook does not update my phone with the changes I
have made.
I do not even know where to go on line to get the "hot sync" program for
Outlook. I am used to a program (Palm) that has all the features I need. The
"help" in both Outlook and iphone do not help. Thank you in advance if you
can help and point me in the right direction.

Outlook has nothing to do with synching, except as a data repository. Your
sync program controls all aspects of synching.

There is no "hot sync" program for Outlook. The "hot sync" program comes
with your phone. In your case, it's called "iTunes".
