How do I add text to a gantt chart in project?

I'm a total novice and the help doesn't make any sense. Where do I alter
text 1? Why isn't there a simple solution to put the text in the task boxes
out on the gantt chart? Help!

Hi Josh,

You enter text1 in a text1 field.
You can access that through Insert, Column.
