How do I change Resource usage summary values

A

Alistair Bruce

In my plan I have ten tasks assigned to resources (some BAs and some Devs via
a resource group). Some tasks are Approved and some are Unapproved (Text 1
value). In the Resource Usage view, against a given Resource; it will show
Task A 4 hours, Task A2 4 hours, Task Unapproved 2 hours with the summary
value of 10 hours (the line against the resource).

I need to filter the Resource Usage view to show only the Approved Tasks (ie
Task A1 and A2) and show the summary value of 8 hours.

The issue with the Summary value is if I have a Combination view with a
Resource Graph in the bottom pane; it graphs against the Summary values and
not the filtered value. It shows the resource over allocated because it
includes the Unapproved task (10 hours).

In the resource usage view, try creating a customized grouping on Text1.
Project/Group By..../Customize Group By....
Select Text1, etc.

You may want to read FAQ#37 and #51 since you may want to pass information
in the Text1 field between different views (Task/Resource/Assignment). From
what I see in your question, that will probably not be necessary.
