I want to send an email to about 400 clients but have it appear as if each
client is getting the email alone. In other words, I don't want other
client's emails to show up.

Put them in the Bcc field - if your mail server permits you to actually
send to 400 recipients per e-mail. Use Word's MailMerge to send a
separate copy to each recipient - but be aware that you may hit your
ISP's anti-spam quota regarding how many mail sessions per minute you
are allowed. Get bulk mailing software. Or subscribe to a bulk mail
provider where you send your message and a list of recipients for that
message.

I would suggest using the merge to email in Word. This way you can actually
personalized each body of the email to each recipient by putting merge fields
in your email, such as Dear (name) at what address, etc.
