How do I input data with a serial port barcode reader into access

I am scanning barcodes as a means of registering volunteers in and out from a
project - I have a barcode scanner which attaches to a serial port - how do I
set this up in access.

you will need an Active X control or some third party software.

I would suggest buying a barcode reader that you can use with a keyboard
wedge. It will make life a little easier in my opinion.
