How do I turn off Design Mode in my Word template?

I am working on a Word template that has check boxes in it. How do I turn
off the "Design Mode" so that everyone who opens it up, the document does not
have "Design Mode" on? How do I keep someone from putting the document into
"Design Mode?"

Don't use check boxes from the control toolbox - instead use protected form
