How to change precision of dimensions in Vision 2000?

Gus

I'm using Visio 2000 to draw up floorplans and have encountered a couple
problems:

- when I select "Add a dimension", it shows the dimensions to the nearest
fraction of an inch. I need to simply show feet and the nearest inch (so,
instead of 8' 10 3/16" i'd like to just get 8'10"). I've tried everything
but obviously not the right thing to correct this. Can anyone out there
advise on how to fix this?!

- Also, is there a way to enter dimension as Feet and Inches? When I go to
View-->Size & Position, the dialogue boxes only offer decimals - is there
any way to enter this as as feet+inches instead?

Thanks!

Is there a Precision & Units option on the right-click menu for the
dimension shape?

There is - but when I fooled around with this, it still wouldn't offer an
option that rounds up to nearest inch.

I can point you to a solution for Visio 2002, but I am not sure whether this
will work for Visio 2000. Please let me know.

Select your dimension shape. Choose Show Shapesheet from the Window menu.
Look for a table called User-defined Cells. Within that table find a row
named User.InchPrec. Change the Value from 16 to 1. Close the Shapesheet
Window.

This setting determines the precision of the inches measurement for ft-in
units. The default is 1/16".

Mark,

I thought it would work...but it doesn't - I opened up the Shapesheet and it
seems to have just about every possible User. parameter....with exception of
User.InchPrec! Surprising!

My apologies. Our dimension shapes got an overhaul in Visio 2000 and a
minor update in Visio 2002. The extra functionality for controlling inch
precision must have been introduced in Visio 2002.
