How to create a word form such that user can format the font.

Heide

I'm trying to create a form using form frames and text boxes...I want users
to be able to place their own text to sit centered in a CIRCLE. This means
they might need a larger font for a smaller word, or a smaller font to use
more characters.

I don't want them to make the original template vulnerable by unlocking it
inorder to access formatting, but don't see another way.

Ideas? Is this a macros kind of thing?

Thanks.

Hi Heide

You need to create a template (File > Save As and choose to save as a
template). Save the template in a location that everyone can see and make it
read-only.

You now have two options. Either get the users to use Tools > Options > File
Locations and set their Workgroup templates location to the location that
you saved teh template. Then when users want to create a new document, they
do File > New and choose your template.

Or, get users to use Windows Explorer and double-click the name of the
template to create a new document based on the template.

In either case, the users will now have their own document based on your
template. And they can do anything to their own document without affecting
the template.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, shauna...I really appreciate your response...

Not sure how to make the doc read-only. I have solved the protection of
the template by locking it--so my question may have not been the best to
explain my dilemma....a little more info might be helpful to help me solve
this...

I'm trying to create a way for users to open a doc sent to them on CDROM,
customize the text that fits in circles that are PRE-PRINTED on CARDSTOCK
that they'll be running through their printer, provided by me.

I want to protect MY template, but I also want to protect the formatting on
THEIR doc, so that when they do print, the text hits the target circle that's
preprinted on the cardstock in the kid I've created for them.

So far I"ve found that formatting is unavailable in the form fields that are
open for them to write into when the doc is locked. Any way to circumvent
that issue?

Ideally, I'd like to keep the doc locked, and have them
