HTML emails have grey background

After reinstalling Outlook 2000 on repaired Win98 all incoming and outgoing
html emails have a grey background. Even old emails which were saved in
backed-up .PST files.
I don't see anywhere to "globally" change the background colour of HTML
email documents.
