I have removed deadline and predeccessors and the date will not change to

Hi Mary Jane,

Does the task in question have an Actual Start Date? If so, that could
explain why a task without deadlines, predecessors, or constraints will not
adjust as you expect.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Mary Jane,

Do not hesitate to send the file to jandemesATprom-adeDOTbe describing
exactly what you miss on which task.
I'll then have a look.

Is a resource assigned to it and if so, is the resource's calendar
causing the problem (leave etc). Similarly, is a task calendar applied

I have a question, when I use the button Adjust Dates, only the dates are
changing, but not the deadlines. What is causing this problem? I looked at
the suggestions above, but I couldn't find the problem.
Can someone help me?
Greetings

Why do you think deadlines *should* change?

Hi,

I agree with the poster.
Adjust Date is nearly always used to shift a complete project because it has
beeen halted or delayed.
All constraints DO change as well as start dates so Finish No Later Than
constraints do change; thus I consider not changing the deadlines an
oversight.

Rob,

Because I am making a template for a purchase planning. The dealine should
change as well when I start up a new project.

Greetings,

I guess. I sort of take deadlines as externally based, with little
sympathy for slippage, and the idea of having facility to automatically
move them sort of doesn't feel good to me.... oh well.

Thanks for the reactions!

But...

In my case I used the taskbars as a specification period, and the deadline
as an ultimate date of ordering. For the next project we have to order about
the same products with the same delivery periods, so when I adjust the dates,
the deadlines have to adjust as well!
But I believe I don't really understand how to solve this, how do I take
deadlines as externally based?
Can someone help me?

Hi,

It depends on how many deadlines you have. If it's only a few, you can
filter for deadlines and just change them manually. If you have many of
them, then maybe vba can provide some automation.

Another possibility is to make a milestone for each deadline linked to the
task as a successor with suitable lag time. Then save all this as a
template. When you open the template for a new project, adjust dates and
then run through the tasks with deadlines and reset the deadlines according
to
the milestones, then delete the milestones.

I've not tested this idea ... but maybe try setting up one of the
computed fields, using a formula controlled by you, as your "Deadline",
using it rather than Project's Deadline field. Downside is you lose
some built-in functionality provided by Project for the Deadline field.
Another way would be to write a VBA macro that sets the deadline field
as you want.

Thanks so much again for the reactions!

Mike, every task has a dealine, so that will be 250 deadlines to change,
that's quite a lot...
I tried your idea Rob, but unfortunately this dates are sticking to their
old positions when adjusting the dates.
So maybe VBA is the only way out. Can someone help me with writing a VBA
macro? Where can I find the code behind the Adjust Dates button? I hope this
can be changed quite easily in a macro to change the deadlines.
Thanks in advance!

You're welcome, :) As I suggested, try posting on the developer newsgroup
where all the vba experts hang out!
