I lost my contact, folders, inbox items using repair and detect

I used to use AVG anti virus software, but have switched to Norton. Everytime
I open Outlook, it tells me it's looking for the AVG software. I tried to fix
the problem using detect and repair, but the problem persists, and I have
lost contact list, folders, and inbox items. Does anyone know how to stop
Outlook from trying to start up AVG, and are my contacts and other items gone
for good?

That's because AVG didn't uninstall correctly and the remnant of the OL
integration remains.
Check your OL comm and other addins (Tools/Options) and untick any AVG
addin.
However unticking may not work on restart.
You should perhaps check AVG tech support for 'how to manually remove'

Installing, or uninstalling an AV app will not cause you to lose your data,
maybe something occured during detect/repair process.
All your data is contained in a *.pst file, by default outlook.pst, this is
a hidden file.
