While it is noted on MSDN blogs that Access 2007 supports transparency, it
only supports 8-bit PNG's with transparency WHEN PRINTED. 24-bit PNG's with
an 8-bit alpha transparency PRINT with a background square when placed over
other objects.
Microsoft Access has long been missing comprehensive support for images in
reports. Does someone know a fix, or do I need to submit a suggestion to
Microsoft on this matter?
I once posted asking why this is, and someone told me, "Access isn't for
desktop publishing, use Illustrator for that." Somehow I don't see how
Illustrator would interface to my ODBC database. *smirk* I would just like
to do some fancy overlays in reports for billing, etc., and I'm surprised to
see that PNG-24 is still treated as a miscreant open file format unworthy of
attention. *loud smirk*
