Importing Addressbook

Shahab Mushtaq

I am using MS Outlook 2003. I used the personal folder
backup tool that I downloaded from Microsoft's website to
back up my personal folders and addressbook before I
rebuilt my computer. After reinstalling Office, I was
able to import my mail settings but not my addressbook.
The addressbook was backed up as a .pst file and Outlook
won't recognize it when I try to import as a data file.
Any help would be much appreciated.

When I try to open the file from within Outlook, I get an
error mesg that the file is not a personal folders file.
If I try to open it from Windows Explorer, I have to
manually associate the file with Outlook, which then adds
it as an attachment to an e-mail mesg. Could you pls.
cc me on my e-mail address below?

Thank you,

Why would you import a native file format?
Just open it.

I know nothing about this backup tool, nor do I trust it. What type of file
does it create? Have you tried to repair it with the Inbox Repair Tool?
You would be far better off just copy and open the original PST file.
