Is there any way to password protect my .ost files?

I am using the Cache Exchange Mode of Outlook 2003 with authentication
mechanism set as Password Authentication NTLM and also selected always prompt
for username and password. However this seems to apply only for connection to
the server. The ost file itself seems to be unencrypted and loads even if the
password window is cancelled. I checked up the settings but the offline
folder setting has been grayed out. So neither the location of ost nor the
encryption can be changed. Is there any way to password protect my .ost files?
