Language problem

When I open a document whose language is UK English and then select another
style set, the language reverts to US English. The language of the Normal
template is set to UK English, but selecting another style set there
reverts the language to US English. The only option I seem to have at the
moment is to reselect UK English every time I change the style of a
document.

Is there any definitive way I can set the language of Word 2007 globally to
UK English, that is, so that all styles are in UK English?

I have seen the same for my copy of Word, which is an English US version
with the language set to Swedish: the built-in style sets change the
language.
